This work was commissioned by Kizuna Dance’s Culture Commissions program, with primary funding from the Siega family.

Part puzzle of misshapen pieces and part persuasive essay on the benefits of being small, this new work takes the principles of cultivating a bonsai tree and superimposes these principles onto the human form. What is it like to be fit into a space that restricts our natural growth? How do we hide behind smallness? How do we find solace in it?
